
Michael Foster
Michael completed his ballet studies at the Houston Ballet Academy and subsequently worked as a dancer at various theatres, including the Texas Ballet Theater, in Hanover and Düsseldorf. Since 2018 he has been studying ballet pedagogy in Dresden.
Michael studied ballet at the Houston Ballett Academy – Houston Ballett II Program with a graduation in 2006, after which he began his career as Corps de Ballett dancer at the Texas Ballett Theater under Ben Stevenson, O. B. E. in Fort Worth, Texas. In 2009 he moved to Hannover, where he danced as soloist under Jörg Mannes for four seasons at the Ballett der Staatsoper Hannover.
In 2013 he moved to Düsseldorf to join the Ballett am Rhein, where he still works as a solo dancer under Martin Schläpfer. In Düsseldorf Michael was seen in various leading roles on stage, including plays by Martin Schläpfer, Mats Ek, William Forsythe, Anthony Tudor, Merce Cunningham and Jerome Robbins. Michael is also a choreographer and his plays have been shown in theatres in Hanover, Hameln, Düsseldorf and Duisburg since 2010. Since August 2018 Michael has been studying ballet pedagogy part-time at the Palucca Hochschule für Tanz, Dresden, with an expected Master of Arts degree in 2021. Michael has been working as a teacher at the Rosenthal Ballet since 2019 and is recognised by the Düsseldorf District Government as per § 4 Nr. 21 UStG (German VAT Act).
