Caroline Llorca

Caroline Llorca is internationally recognised as a leading specialist of the Petipa repertoire and the Vaganova method. Awarded a French government scholarship, she studied in Russia and became the first French dancer to graduate from the Vaganova Academy in St. Petersburg, in the class of Natalia M. Dudinskaya.

Her exceptional command of both French and Russian ballet traditions led to an early international career, becoming a ballet mistress at just 21. Her Paris productions of Paquita and Pas de Quatre were critically acclaimed and supported by the French government.

Caroline Llorca has taught and coached worldwide, including at major institutions in Paris, London, New York, Milan (La Scala), Tokyo, Boston, Barcelona, and for companies such as Alvin Ailey and Maguy Marin, as well as at leading international workshops. She has coached many renowned dancers, including Nina Ananiashvili, Ethan Stiefel, and José Manuel Carreño.

As Ballet Mistress of Boston Ballet (1990–1995), her work on Swan Lake, Don Quixote, The Sleeping Beauty, and Giselle received unanimous praise. Her productions of Don Quixote and La Bayadère for the National Ballet of Mexico (1998, 2001) were major successes and named cultural events of the year. Since 2001, as Ballet Professor at the University of Performing Arts in Munich, she has played a key role in training a new generation of dancers. In 2011, she was awarded the Ordre National du Mérite.
